I remember only a few things about being at their home. We had to step down into the bathroom, the house had a wonderful wrap around porch. and when we did the dishes Grandma made us use tongs to take the dishes out of the rinse water. It was way to hot to put your hands in. And when we had what I think was thanksgiving dinner all the plates were mismatched. Plates that later I got and that disappeared from my mothers home when I left after high school.
